Two men released from investigation into disappearance of Andrew Gosden.
20.9.23
Detectives investigating the disappearance of 14-year-old Andrew Gosden on 14 September 2007 have today (Wednesday 20 September) released two men from their investigation.
Detectives interviewed the men and seized a number of items. The accounts provided by the men have now been confirmed and they have been eliminated from the inquiry.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles is leading the investigation. He said: “We’re confident the two men arrested played no part in Andrew’s disappearance and have been eliminated from our inquiries, however the investigation remains open and active and we would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“It’s now been 16 years since Andrew’s disappearance and we know in that time people’s views, opinions and loyalties can change. Even the smallest piece of information could help detectives find answers for Andrew’s family who have campaigned tirelessly for answers.”
Andrew’s parents, Kevin and Glenys Gosden, have today released the following statement: “As a family, we wish to extend our thanks to DCI Andy Knowles and his team for carrying out such a comprehensive investigation. It is reassuring to know that any possible leads relating to Andrew’s disappearance in 2007 continue to be dealt with in a thorough and professional manner.
“Our hearts go out to the men who have been exonerated of any involvement in Andrew’s disappearance. They have no connection to our missing son and we feel profoundly sorry for the inevitable distress that such allegations will have caused.
“The past months of this investigation have been a period of additional difficulty for our family, intensifying our sense of living in limbo, not knowing what happened to our much-loved son. We are grateful to South Yorkshire Police for helping us to draw a line under this specific aspect as a result of their time-consuming and considered approach to the investigation.
“As a family, our emotional reaction is to feel that, after so much effort over the past 16 years, we remain no closer to discovering what has happened to Andrew. We should like to thank the media and the public for their support and help for so many years, but ask that our privacy is respected.
“The essentials of Andrew’s case remain unchanged and we have nothing further to add. We do not wish to participate in any interview at this time and consider the matter closed, thanks to the painstaking work of the police.
“Details of Andrew’s case are readily available online and as always, we continue to appeal to the public to pass any information they may have to Missing People (116000) or to the police (101).
“Thank you for your understanding at this difficult time.”

Arrests made in Andrew Gosden case
11. 1. 22
Detectives investigating the 2007 disappearance of Andrew Gosden have made two arrests.
Assisted by officers from the Metropolitan Police, we detained two London men on Wednesday 8 December.
A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, human trafficking and the possession of indecent images of children, and a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and human trafficking. Both have now been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Andrew Gosden, who would be 28 now, disappeared on 14 September 2007. The then 14-year-old boarded a train from Doncaster to London, with CCTV cameras capturing him when he arrived at Kings Cross station. That was the last known sighting of Andrew, and since then no information about his movements has been corroborated by police.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Andy Knowles said: “Our priority at this time is supporting Andrew’s family while we work through this new line of enquiry in the investigation. We are in close contact with them and they ask that their privacy is respected as our investigation continues.
“We have made numerous appeals over the years to find out where Andrew is and what happened to him when he disappeared. I would encourage anyone with any information they have not yet reported to come forward.”

South Yorkshire Police Andrew Gosden anniversary appeal
14.9.2021
Fourteen years ago, Doncaster teenager Andrew Gosden went missing.
His family are still searching for answers about what happened to him, and where he is now.
Today, on the 14th anniversary of Andrew’s disappearance we are urging anyone who might know Andrew to talk to police.
Andrew was 14 when he disappeared in September 2007, he’d now be 28.

Today, on the 14th anniversary of Andrew’s disappearance we are urging anyone who might know Andrew to talk to police.
Andrew was 14 when he disappeared in September 2007, he’d now be 28.
We know that he got on a train to London Kings Cross, but after leaving the station there are no confirmed sightings and no information about his movements that could be corroborated by police.
Today we’re resharing several age-progression photos of Andrew and images of his distinctive right ear, all of which could be vital in finding a piece in the puzzle of his disappearance.
Andrew is also deaf in his left ear and has poor eyesight, he needs to wear glasses or contact lenses.
Detective Inspector Andy Knowles, who has been overseeing the police investigation into Andrew’s disappearance since 2017, said: “My main aim is to encourage anyone who might know Andrew to contact police. By providing details about his appearance we are hoping to spark a conversation between friends or people that might know him as the 28 year old man he is today.
“Does someone you know have gaps in their life history? Do you know someone with this distinctive double ridge on his right ear? Is there someone in your life, your street, or your community that might be Andrew?”
Since his disappearance, Andrew’s dad Kevin has continued to raise awareness and search for answers about his son. He works closely with the national charity Missing People, collating useful information to help the wider public in their search for Andrew. This information is available via Kevin’s blog:

DI Knowles added: “Time does not lessen the pain for Andrew’s family. I know from speaking to them that with every passing day, month, and year their desire to know what happened to him grows.
“If you have any answers to these questions, perhaps today is the time to speak to someone.”
Any information that is received by South Yorkshire Police continues to be reviewed, please call us or submit information online quoting incident number 161 of 13 September 2017.
You can also speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Ten-years since disappearance of Doncaster teen. Can you help?
14/9/2017
Today marks ten-years since Andrew Gosden went missing from his home in Doncaster, and officers remain committed in continuing to pursue and investigate any information that could lead to finding him and would ask anyone who believes they know where he may be or who may have seen him to please come forward. Andrew, now 24, was 14-years-old when he left his home address in the Balby area of Doncaster and was seen heading down Littlemoor Lane towards Westfield Park, at around 8.30am on Friday, 14 September 2007. This is Andrew's page in their Missing album which they now have on their Flickr account page. Please click picture >>> |
The Search For Andrew GosdenIn the first few months after Andrew’s disappearance, Andrew's dad and Glenys his mum took it in turns to visit London, postering, leafleting, covering museums, stations, pizza restaurants, all the refuges they could find, anywhere they could think of. Last year Andrews parents appeared on daytime talk shows, TV and radio news programmes (both regional and national), Comic Relief and Missing Live, among others. Andrew’s photo appeared on electronic screens in hospitals and GPs’ surgeries, and on milk cartons, bus shelters, rubbish vans.
Andrew is described as slim build, 5'3 tall with brown straight hair and brown eyes, at the time he went missing, but please bear in mind his appreance has likely changed from the photo on the top right of this page. Andrew was planning on growing his hair long and dying it black, but he is just as likely to have shaved it off and changed his style. About AndrewAndrew does need glasses or contact lenses, and is into the heavy metal goth scene; bands like Evanescence, Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson and Muse (who he saw in concert with his dad). Andrew is familiar with many of the London Tourist attractions. He is also academically gifted and was always interested in museums of of all types. Subjects such as Mathematics, sciences, history and philosophy particularly interested him.
Despite TV and radio appeals, poster and e-mail campaigns, Andrew Gosden is still missing, his reasons for leaving are completely unknown. There is concern for Andrew's safety as he has never gone missing before and this is totally out of character. Can you help find him? Anyone with information should call South Yorks Police on 0114-220 2020 or Missing People on 116 000. Andrew if you are reading this please let us know you are safe you can even call the Runaway Helpline on Freefone 116 000 for confidential advice and support or just phone home. We love you and miss you. |
